LOCAL PROFESSIONAL SINGERS HEADLINE CAST FOR APAC'S "A CHORUS LINE"

Three professional Big Island singers are heading up the cast for "A Chorus Line," the next production of Aloha Performing Arts Company, which is being directed and choreographed by Lee Vinson. Priscilla Basque plays the leading female, Cassie; Jeannine Guillory plays the headstrong, sophisticated Sheila; and Yisa Var plays Val, who is a singing, dancing advertisement for "surgical enhancement." These local chanteuses collectively provide the production with a broad spectrum of professional performing experience, including television, movies, theater, and entertaining in clubs and festivals throughout Hawaii, the mainland, and beyond. Joining them in the large cast are Steven Orton as Don, Johnny Gomez as Mike, Raisa Klyne as Connie, Taylor Kinsey as Greg, Kelly Drake as Bobby, Lee Vinson as Richie, Robb Dahlke as Al, Kai Fink as Mark, Alec Lugo as Paul, Delaney Ross as Maggie, Sandra Huitt as Bebe, Tracey Fosso as Judy, Caitie Johnson-Underwood as Kristine, Roxanne Fox as Diana, Heather Bartlett as Tricia, Ashley Fuksa as Vicki, Rachel Leonard as Butch, Jen Johansen as Tom, Marie-anne Rouse as Frank, Leena Fuksa as Lois, David Payne as Larry, and Jerry Tracy as Zach.

"A Chorus Line" is the phenomenal 1975 hit, which for many years held the distinction of being the longest running Broadway show ever. It was conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, with book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and music by the legendary Marvin Hamlisch. It centers around a group of dancers auditioning for the chorus of a big Broadway musical. The aforementioned Mr. Vinson brings years of experience with the show to APAC's production. He is joined on the production team by Dale Ross, music director; Sue Boyum, vocal director; Marie-anne Rouse, assistant director, and Ariana Bassett, technical director. Designers include Hadley Catalano, set; boB Gage, lighting; Miguel Montez, sound; Marylei Drake, costumes, and Toni Reynolds, props.
