APAC OFFERS PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES
Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer six classes this fall in its ongoing program of performing arts education. All instruction will take place at the APAC Loft in Kainaliu, on the second floor of the building directly across the street from Paradise Found.
Tuesdays will feature two classes. First, Jerry Tracy will continue his "Tuesday Trouper" theatre class for 8-12 year olds from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. Sept 5 through October 24. Tuition is $100. From 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., Amma Maxwell will offer Mixed Dance Level 2, for those with previous dance experience. The class begins September 5 and will be ongoing, with tuition set at $75 for 8 classes.

AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED FOR "HONK, JR."
Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, August 21 and 22 for the Aloha Performing Arts Company's production of the musical comedy "Honk, Jr." by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. This show is a modern musical retelling of the Ugly Duckling story, and requires a cast of 20-30 people, all under the age of 18. Rehearsals will begin August 24, and will generally be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The show will be performed at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, October 6 though 22.

APAC CASTS 13TH ANNUAL ORIGINAL PLAY FESTIVAL
Over 40 actor/readers have been cast in six new plays which will be given staged readings in Aloha Performing Arts Company's 13th annual Original Play Festival. The festival will be presented at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu Wednesday through Saturday, August 16 through 19, at 7:30 each evening.

APAC ANNOUNCES NEW SEASON
Aloha Performing Arts Company has announced its lineup of theatrical productions for the 2006-2007 season at the historic Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. After the 13th annual Original Play Festival in August, the first mainstage production will be "Honk, Jr." a streamlined version of the musical "Honk" by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, designed especially for young performers. This delightful show, playing October 6-22, is a zany modern musical retelling of the Ugly Duckling story, and will showcase a cast made up entirely of people under the age of 18.
To celebrate Halloween, APAC will reprise a hit musical from last season, Richard O'Brien's cult rock fantasy "The Rocky Horror Show." The majority of last year's cast is on board for this hana hou, which will be presented for five shows only, October 27-31.

APAC ANNOUNCES SCRIPTS AND AUDITIONS FOR OPF XIII
Aloha Performing Arts Company recently completed the script selection process for its 13th annual Original Play Festival. Out of a field of 18 entries, 6 scripts were chosen and will be given staged readings at the Aloha Theatre in August. Over 70 roles will be cast at festival auditions July 10 and 11 at 6:30 at APAC's loft in Kainaliu.
Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer a seven-day intensive production workshop for children from ages 8-12 on June 21,22,23,28,29,30, and July 1, with a free public performance at the end of the final day at the Aloha Theatre. The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, with possible early drop off at an additional charge if requests warrant. Morning instruction will take place at APAC's loft in Kainaliu, and afternoon sessions will be at the Aloha Theatre.
APAC artistic director Jerry Tracy will direct his original script "Your Show of Colors," which is a zany theatrical revue exploring the concept of color through rap, choral speaking, acting, singing, and dancing. Each participant is guaranteed a role, and will also help with the technical preparations for the show, including creating props, costumes, and sets. Each child must bring a lunch daily, and APAC will provide an afternoon snack as well as all materials needed for the workshop. Sharon Cannon is music director, and Carena Montany is choreographer. The staff will be assisted by members of Aloha Teen Theatre and YAPAC, APAC's youth program.
Tile-setter and thespian Anthony Agresti, last seen as Issachar in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and high school student Sarah Weiner, last seen as the clown in “Othello,” take the lead roles as Romeo and Juliet, respectfully, in Aloha Performing Arts Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.” They are supported by a cast of 17 performers.

Watkins, Mrs. Capulet by Robin O’Hara, Montague by Joe Zapataoliva, Mrs. Montague by Carmen Kinsey, the Nurse by Catherine Hansen, Tybalt by Tiana Alcoran, Mercutio by Kini Depontes, Benvolio by Tyler Wood, Balthasar by Sandra Burck, Judge Escalus by David A. Payne, Paris by Alex Moore, Brother Lawrence by Dick Hershberger, Brother John by John Powell, the Apothecary by Eileen Weiner, Rosaline by Monica Jones, Paris’ Page/Drummer Boy by Jacob Lam, and First Watchman/Servingman by Chuck Makanui.
Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold auditions for supporting roles for its June production of William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" Saturday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre. The title roles were cast in January, and will be played by Anthony Agresti and Sarah Weiner, who will be on hand at the auditions to read with other prospective cast members.
Roles which will be cast include Lord and Lady Montague, Benvolio, Abram, Balthasar, Lord and Lady Capulet, the Nurse, Tybalt, Petruchio, Sampson, Gregory, Peter, Escalus, Paris, Mercutio, Friar Lawrence, Friar John, the Apothecary, and various other attendants and citizens.
Those auditioning should prepare a 1-2 minute speech from any Shakespeare play or sonnet. Memorization is not required, but familiarity will be appreciated. Auditionees will also be asked to read from the script. No experience is required and newcomers are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals will begin April 17, and will be held 7-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday through May 4. Beginning the week of May 8, the schedule will expand to include Saturdays, 2-5 p.m.
The Aloha Performing Arts Company (APAC) is pleased to announce the cast for its production of “Steel Magnolias” written by Robert Harling.
The play takes place in the 1980’s and is centered in Truvy’s Beauty Shop in Chinquapin, Louisiana. Gayle Keller portrays the vivacious Truvy, a role that she performed in the Aloha Theatre in 1991. Ms Keller is a veteran of many productions at the Aloha and Children’s Theatre. Her most recent project was the portrayal of a bigoted juror in Hualalai Academy’s Black Box Theatre production of “Twelve Angry Men.” In her real life, Ms Keller is co-owner of Kona’s Mr. Computer Wiz and works at Hualalai Academy.
Realtor Jennifer York has been cast in the part of M’Lynn the mother of bride, Shelby. Ms York views the role of M’Lynn as fun and challenging because of the wide range of emotions experienced by her character. Ms York’s roles for APAC include Chelsea in “On Golden Pond”, and Lady MacBeth, as well as that of co-producer for the production of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
Aloha Performing Arts Company will offer its Spring Break Production Workshop, "Tarheel Tales," March 27-April 1. The workshop, for 8-12 year olds, culminates in a free public performance at 2:30 p.m. April 1 at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu.
APAC board member Jan Johnson will be the primary instructor, assisted by APAC teen volunteers. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, with tuition set at $130. Optional extended hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. with a tuition of $170. Tuitions include all materials needed, plus an afternoon snack and a T-shirt. Each student will need to bring a lunch.
Participants will receive an intensive week of planning, rehearsing, and performing a show. Each student is guaranteed a role in the final performance and will participate in technical preparations as well.
"Tarheel Tales" is is a classic story theatre piece adapted by Tom Behm from the works of Richard Chase. Mime, improvisation, and audience participation will be featured in the telling of five stories: "Jack and the Northwest Wind," "The Big Toe," "Old Dry Frye," Wicked John and the Devil," and "Jack and the Robbers."
