The longest-running FREE teen theatre on the island!
Registration for the 2nd semester of the Aloha Teen Theatre (ATT) closes January 26!
What is ATT?
Aloha Teen Theatre (ATT) is a FREE weekly program for ages 13-18 to gain new skills, build connections, and be inspired by the arts! ATT also offers a unique opportunity for teens to collaborate and build valuable relationships with others who share similar interests- especially during these isolated times.
ATT is open to teens of all backgrounds, experiences, and styles. Having ATT run as a virtual program opens the exciting opportunity to welcome ALL HAWAI’I TEEN RESIDENTS who are interested in participating! No worries if you live Kona or Hilo-side, south or north-ways! ATT is open to you!
Whether you were professionally trained, have never opened a script in your life, or are somewhere in between- there’s no judgment here! ATT supports every teen’s experience by cultivating a setting that encourages meaningful self-expression. This is YOUR space.
ATT will run on Wednesdays, January 20-May 5, 2021, with times varying from 3:30pm-5:00pm. During this time, teens will either explore a new subject in “EDU”, or get into “production mode” in “Virtual Production”! Read below for more details and calendar overview.
Classes and Production Opportunities
This semester, ATT is offering TWO virtual opportunities to experience in the arts!

ATT EDU: It’s everything you love about learning theatre- virtually! We’re offering a variety of arts-based learning opportunities including “behind-the-scenes” classes, special guest workshops, online improvisation, movement training, character development, and more! Miss Jaque, CREATE’s Education Director, will oversee all educational components and head coordination with special guests!
Virtual Production: Do you have a desire to perform (for the first time or again)? Interested in Learning skills for the camera? work with special guest directors to stream this one-of-a-kind showcase!
We understand some students may want/need to learn the different roles and skills used in the industry, others may want/need to perform any chance they get, and some want the best of both worlds! This semester, Teens have the opportunity to attend one or both of the virtual programs! Either way, we welcome you with double the open doors!
Now more than ever, families are experiencing constantly-changing schedules. We are doing our best to support the need for more lenient attendance while upholding a sense of accountability for attending participants. Full attendance recommendations for both programs and a “contact us” policy will be shared on the first class day for both programs.
- Pencil/Pen; Paper (for note-taking)
- WiFi to access Zoom, Slack, email, and links for future activities
- Tech device to access video, audio, and chat features on Zoom
- No materials will need to be purchased for this class. Specific materials needed will vary on class subject (i.e. scissors, old t-shirt, paint brush, etc). We will notify students in advance of any materials needed. If materials are needed and not available in teens’ households, we will coordinate socially-distant pick-ups to ensure all may successfully participate in the class.
*Please keep in mind that due to the evolving COVID-related restrictions, all activities are subject to change. We will do all we can to follow the planned calendar, but understand cancellations or postponement may occur. The CREATE program follows the DOE calendar and recommendations and incorporates CDC guidelines for group health and safety. While the DOE continues to encourage distant learning, we will continue to run ATT as a virtual program. We are regularly reevaluating in-person class options and will provide updates as long as our community is in a safe position to do so.
