Aloha Performing Arts Company Education Coordinator

Position Description

The Education Coordinator’s purpose is to manage all education-related efforts for the Aloha Theatre. The EC will be primarily responsible for ongoing classes and workshops. It is expected that the EC will seek to become self-funded through tuition revenue, education grants, and donations.

The EC will report to the Interim Administrator to design appropriate measures of effectiveness. These will include short-term goals, as well as progress toward longer-range projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

– Maintain established educational programs that align with the Theatre’s mission.

– Function as Teaching Assistant for all main educational classes.

– Be prepared as the primary instructor or substitute for all classes or workshops

– Ensure all class-related paperwork is complete for instructors and participants, including registrations, releases, and contracts.

– Maintain all class supplies, including snacks.

– Recruit, mentor, observe, and evaluate instructors and advisors, as required

-Work with Interim Administrator to prepare and present instructors with quarterly contracts.

– Work with instructors to establish course curriculum and materials. Maintain and distribute class supplies, snacks, etc.

  • Prepare and publish weekly newsletter highlighting educational offerings, volunteer opportunities, upcoming shows, and community highlights..

– Identify Educational Grants.

– Prepare and submit requests and reports.

– Maintain orderly records of plans, interactions, and paperwork.

– Provide monthly reports to the Interim Administrator.

Qualifications

– 3-5 years teaching experience Performing arts instructional experience is preferred but not required.

– Must have previous theatre and/or performing arts experience

– Must be computer literate and proficient in Word, Excel and Google equivalent.

– Ability to learn new programs independently.

– Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences, including all ages and backgrounds

Physical Requirements

– May occasionally be required to lift as much as 50 pounds while transporting supplies.

– May teach physically demanding dance or fitness courses as a principal instructor or substitute.

Work Environment

– Will work primarily out of the offices of the Aloha Theatre in a shared workspace.

– Intermittent remote work may be arranged.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary of $20 per hour for 35-40 hours per week
